Google has introduced its UPI-based mobile payments app Tez in India. The App is already available for download from Google Play Store but the company will officially announce the App later today.
The Internet search giant says “Send money home to your family, split a dinner bill with friends, or pay the neighborhood chaiwala. Make all payments big or small, directly from your bank account with Tez”. So Users can pay for movie tickets, utility bills, and make other transactions online via the App.
The App currently supports all the major UPI payment supported banks such as Axis, ICICI, HDFC, etc. Also, Airtel Payments Bank option is present as well in the bank accounts section. As for the security the App comes with Google PIN or screen lock method such as fingerprint and each transaction is also secured with UPI PIN.
It also supports Cash Mode option which uses audio to identify the people nearby to send and receive money instantly. Consumers are not required to share their private details like the bank account or phone number during the transactions. The company has added a feature called ‘Tez Shield,’ which is a fraud detection scheme comes into play whenever there’ some malicious attempt on your account.
Google has partnered with services such as Dominos, Jet Airways, etc., allowing customers to pay using Google Tez. As an introductory offer, Google is running a campaign where users will get Rs. 51 as a cashback for transferring Rs. 1 to someone’s account.
It features a business channel which will help customers easily find services. These businesses can then talk to the customers and give them discounts. Customers can then easily pay for the offers they avail from within the app.
