Moto Z Play 2 was official launched in US and a few other markets with the new moto mods. The Moto Z2 play will be available from July in US and it was available from 1 June in Brazil where is costs around R$ 1,999, for rest of the world it gonna be released within this month.
The device has sleek metal unibody design, instead of the glass back seen on last year’s model, but the connecting pins for the Moto Mods still sit at the back of the phone. The smartphone will be made available in Lunar Grey and Fine Gold colour variants. The rear camera is still situated inside the round camera bump ring at the back, and the fingerprint scanner is in the front as the Moto z Play. The new version is slimmer than the last years device but only by 1mm. The phone is protected against minor spills by a water-resistant nano coating.
The Moto Z2 Play has a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD. On the inside is an upgraded Snapdragon 626 with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory or 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory. There is also microSD support, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, A-GPS/GLONASS, NFC, and USB-C. And yes, the 3.5mm headphone jack from the previous model is still here. On the back is a 12 megapixel camera with dual pixel phase detection autofocus and f/1.7 aperture, that can also do 4K video. This is likely the same camera that is used on the Moto G5 Plus. On the front is a 5 megapixel shooter with f/2.2 aperture and wide-angle lens. As Lenovo promised last years Moto Mods are still compatible with the new Moto Z2 Play.
New Moto Mods are also released with the smartphone. Among them is Moto Power Pack that brings additional 2200mAh battery. This accessory weighs only 72grams more, comes in black and white colour options, and brings up to 16 hours of more power on board.
Another is Moto GamePad, which turns your phone into a handheld gaming console, complete with dual analog joysticks and D-pad controls. It also has a 1,035mAh battery built-in.
There’s also a Turbo Power Pack Moto Mod which brings a 3490mAh additional battery on board with fast charging support. It supports up to 30W TurboPower and is rated to charge up to 50 percent in just 20 minutes.
Then there is the JBL SoundBoost 2, which puts powerful 2x3W stereo speakers on the back of your phone with a built-in kickstand, and also has an extra 1,000mAh battery inside. It is also splashproof.
And in the end there is a Moto Style Shell with Wireless Charging, which as the name suggests, is a back cover for the phone that also adds wireless charging support for Qi and PMA charging pads. It comes in four patterns. Moto Style Shell costs around $39.99, and the Moto GamePad, Moto TurboPower Pack, and JBL SoundBoost 2 for $79.99 each.
