The CEO Pete Lau has posted again on the company’s official forum explaining why the upcoming smartphone will lack the ability to charge wirelessly. According to him, the Dash Charge which is the proprietary fast charging system created by OnePlus is still better than wireless charging.
He further explains that with dash charging smartphones can receive a day’s power in just 30 minutes, which is not possible via wireless charging. Some cons of wireless charging were also mentioned such as users can’t play games or do simple tasks like taking images, whereas one can easily indulge in sames tasks when charging via cable.
The CEO of the company also says in his post that “given present-day infrastructures, wireless charging brings more limitations than freedom.” This doesn’t mean that Oneplus will never think of embedding their smartphones with wireless technology as lau mentions that they will consider adding the feature to its phones “when the time is right.”
Moving on, the Oneplus 5T is scheduled to be launched on November 16 at an event in New York and will go on sale from November 21 . As for pricing, it is expected to cost same as its predecessor according to a UK carrier, O2.
