Pre-ordering of the Reliance’s feature JioPhone will start at 5:30 PM from August 24 onward. It will be available via both online and offline channels. The company will start shipping the device from September onwards and customers will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Jiophone will come preloaded with apps such as JioCinema, JioMusic, and JioTV, along with popular instant messaging and social networking apps.
Customers can book their handset by visiting the company’s official website where the company will be charging Rs. 500 while pre-booking, and the rest Rs. 1,000 should be paid while picking the device. On smartphones, customers need to install MyJio app and on opening the app just tap on the Prebook Now option which will then let customers to fill in the details. Upon Booking, customers would get a booking ID on the app as well as SMS, which you can refer to while picking it up from the designated retailer.
As for specification, the Jiophone will feature a 2.4-inch display with 320 x 240 resolution. The phone will be powered by Spreadtrum SC9820A/QC8905 SoC with Mali-400 GPU and 512MB of RAM. It comes with 4GB of internal storage, along with a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB.
The handset will pack 2000mAh battery and will be running on KAI OS which will support 22 Indian languages. It will sport a 2MP rear camera, along with a 0.3MP front-facing camera. The JioPhone can be connected to TV with the help of JioMediaCable which can be bought separately. The connectivity options include 4G VOLTE, LTE Cat4, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, FM-Radio, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and Micro USB 2.0.
