The San Diego chipset giant officially unveiled their new high-end mobile processor Snapdragon 845 at its second annual Snapdragon Technology Summit in Hawaii. But at the event they didn’t specifics about their new chipset, which has changed now as the company has revealed detailed information on the Snapdragon 845 chipset on the second day of the event.
According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 845 processor is 30 percent more efficient when compared against its predecessor Snapdragon 835. The new Adreno 630 GPU, which is part of the Snapdragon 845 chipset can perform 30 percent better in terms of graphics. Also, the new GPU offers enhanced video rending and consumes less power compared to Adreno 540 graphics.
The processor is an octa-core processor that includes four ARM cores of Kryo 385 Gold working at 2.8 GHz and four ARM cores of Kryo 385 Silver working at 1.8 GHz. It supports 4 x 16-bit LPDDR4x RAM and will be built with the 10nm FinFET manufacturing process.
It also includes a Hexagon 685 Digital Signal Processor for Artificial Intelligence and imaging, AQustic Audio, and Snapdragon X20 Gigabit LTE modem. The chipset can deliver maximum download speeds of 1.2 Gbps and upload speeds of 150 Mbps and support dual SIM-dual VoLTE as it comes with Cat. 18 LTE modem.
For protection the of the upcoming Flagships such as Samsung S9, MI 7, it will supports wide range of biometric recognition feature such as fingerprint, iris, voice and face. The new chipset comes with Spectra 280 Image Signal Processor which will let users to shoot 4K HDR videos at 60 fps on Snapdragon 845 powered smartphones. It also supports capturing of slow-motion videos of HD quality at 480 fps.
