Earlier it was rumored that Xiaomi’s upcoming entry-level smartphone Redmi Note 5A was expected to be released next week. Now the company’s CEO Lei Jun and co-founder Bin Lin have confirmed the news with official press invites which reveal that the smartphone will be launched on August 21.
As per the specification, the Redmi Note 5A will feature a 5.5-inch screen with HD (1280 x 720) display. The device will be available in two variants, one will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, another variant will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Both variants could extend their storage via MicroSD card. It will pack a 3080mAh battery and will be running on Android Nougat 7.1.1 underneath the latest MIUI 9.
On the rear, the base variant will sport a 13MP camera with LED flash and the front-facing camera will have a 5MP sensor for the selfies, video-call, etc.. And The better-specced variant will sport a 16MP camera with LED flash and the front-facing camera will have a 16MP sensor. The device will be available in the Gold, Rose Gold and Grey color variants. As for dimension, the smartphone will have 153 × 76.2 × 7.59 mm and weight around 150gm. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A will cost around ¥1,000 ($150).
