Reliance Jio has paused bookings of the new JioPhone, which was released on August 24 from 5:30PM onwards. The company has stated on its official website that ‘Thank You India, Millions Have Pre-Booked the JioPhone.’ Jio claims that they would start taking orders again soon.
As of now, there is no tentative day or date specified by the company as to when they will resume taking orders for JioPhone. But there are rumors that the company could start pre-booking after they have delivered the first batch of the JioPhone to customers, which is expected to be in the first week of September.
The JioPhone will be free for the customers, but the company is collecting Rs. 1,500 as a security deposit, which will be refunded to the customer after three years. The pre-booking fee is Rs. 500, while the remaining Rs. 1,000 will be paid by the customers upon delivery.
As for specification, the Jiophone will feature a 2.4-inch display with 320 x 240 resolution. The phone will be powered by Spreadtrum SC9820A/QC8905 SoC with Mali-400 GPU and 512MB of RAM. It comes with 4GB of internal storage, along with a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB.
The handset will pack 2000mAh battery and will be running on KAI OS which will support 22 Indian languages. It will sport a 2MP rear camera, along with a 0.3MP front-facing camera. The JioPhone can be connected to TV with the help of JioMediaCable which can be bought separately. The connectivity options include 4G VOLTE, LTE Cat4, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, FM-Radio, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and Micro USB 2.0.
