Samsung has started updating their new mobile payments service Samsung Pay in India. Update is nearly 84MB, the update brings along a brand new feature: support for Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
Unified Payments Interface, is a national service for transferring funds between banks in India. UPI only requires users to have a telephone number registered with their banks in order to work, making it the most accessible fund transfer system that can be used even on a feature phone. Integration through Samsung Pay means users can send money to others through the Samsung Pay app, and also request money from others and pay at merchants and retailers.
Samsung has also created a unique digital payment ecosystem by partnering with a number of issuers and card networks. Our Card Network and Issuer partners include Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI Cards and Standard Chartered Bank. Citibank India is a forthcoming issuer and its credit cards will be live on Samsung Pay shortly.
