Sony has launched two new mid-tier smartphones, Xperia R1 and R1 Plus in Indian market today. The company is touting the fast upload and browsing via uplink data compression (UDC) which is supported by both the smartphones. Both the devices will be available in India starting November 10, and they will come in Black and Silver colors.
Moving on the configuration, The smartphones will feature a 5.2-inch HD IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. For the protection it comes with 2.5D curved glass on top. under the hood, they are powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC.
The only difference between the handsets will be their storage, As the Sony Xperia R1 will come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, while the plus variant will come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. Both the devices will support Micro SD card for expansion up to 128GB.
As for the optics, the devices sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and hybrid autofocus technology. Up front, Sony added an 8MP front-facing camera which also comes with hybrid autofocus support. To keep the lights on the smartphones comes with 2620mAh battery. They both run on Android 7.1 Nougat with Sony custom skin on top, and the company has promised to upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo soon.
It measures 146×73.2×8.8mm and weighs 154 grams. Connectivity options include GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, 4G with support for LTE Cat. 4, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, and Wi-Fi. It also comes with FM radio. The Sony Xperia R1 is priced at Rs. 12,990, whereas the R1 Plus retails for Rs. 14,990.
