Vivo has quietly announced their new Y-series smartphone, the Y79, in China. The main USP of the smartphone will be its 24MP front facing camera and its in-trend 18:9 display. It will cost around CNY 2498($376/€325) in china and will be available in Champagne, Matte Black, and Rose Gold colors.
Under the hood, the Vivo Y79 will sport a 5.99-inch IPS Incell ‘FullView’ display with HD+ (720×1440) resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and 2.5D curved glass. The display is almost bezel-less with 2.15mm side bezels.The smartphone will be fueled by a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable via microSD card up to 256GB.
On the rear, it has a 16MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED flash. As mention earlier smartphone is selfie-centric, so it comes with a 24MP front-facing camera f/2.0 aperture, 1/2.78-inch sensor, and a Moonlight Glow soft selfie light. It packs a 3225mAh battery and runs Funtouch OS 3.2 based on Android 7.1 Nougat.
The smartphone has a AK4376A Hi-Fi Audio chipset and comes with Face Wake facial recognition feature which instantly identifies the users face and unlocks the device. The connectivity option includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, 3.5mm audio jack, and FM radio. Sensors on board the smartphone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, and proximity sensor. The smartphone measures 155.87×75.47×7.7mm and weighs 160 grams.
