The Chinese smartphone maker will be introducing their new Redmi smartphones on December 7. So before the unveiling the Redmi 5 got its certification from TENNA, which confirmed the configuration and design of the upcoming smartphone. The smartphone will be available in Blue, Gold, Black and Pink colors.
Design-wise, the smartphone will come with all metal back panel and have a single primary camera followed by the flash and the fingerprint sensor. On the front it will rock an elongated display with thinner bezels. It seems like there would be on-screen navigational keys as there are no soft keys at the bottom bezel.
According to the China Telecom, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 will feature a 5.7-inch display with HD (720 × 1440 pixels) resolution and has an 18:9 aspect ratio. It will be fueled by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor which is clocked at 1.8GHz and has a Adreno 506 GPU.
The handset will come in three options – base variant has 2GB of RAM clubbed with 16GB of internal storage, whereas the mid variant has 3GB of RAM mated with 32GB of built-in storage and the premium variant has 4GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of in-built storage. All the variants are expected to support MicroSD card for expansion of storage.
Speaking of optics, the smartphone will sport a single 12MP camera on the rear. And in the front it has the same 5MP camera as its predecessor for selfies and video-call. It will pack a smaller 3200mAh battery when compared to its predecessor and come loaded with latest MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. It measures 151.8 × 72.8 × 7.7mm and weighs around 157grams.
