Nubia subsidiary brand of ZTE has launched two new smartphones, the Nubia Z17S and the Nubia Z17 miniS, in China today. The highlight of the smartphones will be their four cameras which will be divided into pairs and placed on both rear and front end. Nubia Z17S will be the flagship of the company whereas the Z17 miniS packs mid-range specifications. Both the smartphones will be available for pre-order from today onward and will be on sale starting October 19.
Starting with flagship, The Z17S comes with a 5.73-inch LTPS TFT display with Full HD+ (1080 x 2040 pixels) resolution and have a 18:9 ratio. The Physical home button is now implemented in the UI. The smartphone has an all metal body with 3D glass finish at the back with Corning Gorilla Glass fitted on both the sides.
The handset is fueled by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and comes in two variants, the base variant will have 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage while the top variant has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. It packs a 3100 mAh battery supports 26W fast charging and ZTE promises 50% charge in 25 minutes. The handset runs on Nubia UI 5.1 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.
In terms of optics, the smartphone sports a horizontal dual camera consisting of 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor paired with another 23MP Sony IMX318 sensor which is capable of 2x optical zoom and has dual-tone LED flash on the rear. And at the front, the handset also has horizontal dual camera setup with two 5MP sensors with f/2.2 aperture.
As for the pricing, the 6GB+64GB version will cost around CNY 2999($455/€384) and CNY 3999($607/€512) for the 8GB+128GB option. The Nubia Z17S will be available in two colors Black and Blue.
Nubia Z17 MiniS
Moving on to the Z17 miniS, The Z17S features a 5.2-inch display with full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and for the protection it has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The smartphone also packs a 3D glass body finish with metal construction but it won’t have the Corning Gorilla Glass protection at the back panel.
The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. It packs a bigger 3200 mAh battery and runs on Nubia UI 5.0 based on Android 7.1 Nougat.
As for the optics, the smartphone also rocks a horizontal dual camera on the rear with two 13MP Sony sensors one of them will be Monochrome while other will be an RGB with f/2.2 aperture, NeoVision 7.0, and dual-tone LED flash. And at the front, it has dual cameras with a 16MP sensor coupled with a secondary 5MP sensor.
The Nubia Z17 miniS will also be available in three colors Black Gold, Deep Blue and Aegean Blue. The Black Gold and Deep Blue variant will carry a price tag of CNY 1999($303/€256) whereas the Aegean Blue version will cost around CNY 2099 ($318/€269).
